In representing the theme “Agriculture, going for Growth” the Rural Agricultural Development Authority, one of the major partners in the organization of the Denbigh Agricultural Industrial Show sought to highlight and bring to focus the technical aspects of agriculture in its main booth at the event. In addition, it sought to assist in galvanizing the efforts of farmers and showcasing the best of the Parishes in the Parish Pavillion booths.
RADA efforts within Parish Pavillions.
Despite the severe drought and other constraints experienced within the sector, the Parish Pavillions provided bountiful local produce on display and placed on spotlight technology and innovations in agriculture. The RADA Parish Extension Officers worked in tandem with the JAS to make the Rudpolph Burke and Percival Broderick Parish Competitions a reality. Congratulations to the overall winner, Clarendon and Parish winner, St. Mary for the excellent exhibits.

RADA Main Booth
Within the main RADA booth, technical information was disaggregated by the various units to include: Fruit Tree Crop, Backyard Gardening/ Nursery, Greenhouse, Livestock, Crop Care, Land Husbandry, Marketing and Post Harvesting, Social Service and Home Economics, ADRM,ICT among others.
With the main aim to sensitize patrons to the Denbigh Show on these services being offered, the RADA team used an interactive and participatory approach from the knowledge testing spinning wheel of fortune to highlighting the benefits of fodder (grass) banks and other practical demonstrations.
Patrons were also able to sample the finest Twickenham products to include bammies, pancake mixes and scrumptious delights from the Home Economics and Social Services Department and Agrimart.
Parish Competition Awards Ceremony
Another major highlight within the Denbigh Show 2014 for RADA was the Parish Competitions Awards Presentation which was held on the second day of the Show, August 2, 2014 during the official ceremony.
The RADA parish competition sought to foster team building, improve staff morale and ultimately enhance motivation levels through the use of a National Parish Competition.
