The Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sandals Foundation (a philanthropic arm of Sandals Resorts International) during its fifth anniversary and Launch of Project Sprout at Eden Gardens on March 18, 2014.
According to Sandals Foundation, Project Sprout is a “targeted intervention at the early childhood level that helps children better achieve their developmental milestones. It will provide upgrades to school infrastructure, see to the provision of teaching and learning aids, such as books, computers and educational toys, that will enhance the learning environment; provide human resources by way of an early childhood specialist and social worker; and facilitate parental involvement in a child’s education at school and at home”.
Outlined in the partnership agreement with RADA is Sandals Foundations’ added commitment to provide support to schools and communities through the provision of greenhouses from the Project Sprout initiative.
RADA will provide the Technical Support Services the structured training with potential workers on the established sites in the application of the technology for successful production of desired crops and management of greenhouse sites established by The Sandals Foundation
RADA looks forward to continued mutual relations with the Sandals Foundation as they seek to play a meaningful role in the lives of communities across the Caribbean.
