The 18st staging of the MINARD  Livestock  Show  and  Beef  Festival was held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Minard Estate, Brown's Town St. Ann under the theme "Ensuring Food Security and Safety through Livestock Production"

The exposition was organized by the  Cattle  Breeder's Societies of Jamaica; Agro-Investment Corporation (AIC); the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture & Fisheries  (MICAF)  through the Research and Development and Communication Divisions; the Small Ruminant Association (SRA) along with Jamaica 4H Clubs.

The aim of the Show was to provide the following:

• Restore confidence in the livestock sub-sector as a platform for generating viable livestock enterprises.

• To explore marketing options/alternatives.

• To improve the competitive marketing position of  locally produced beef, chevon, milk and their value added products.

During the Official Programme, Mr. Michael Stern, RADA Chairman, National Board of Directors encouraged the children present to view agriculture, and specifically in this case, livestock production as a viable business venture and glean as much information as possible from the event.

At the event there was a multiplicity of activities for students to include essay competition, dairy quiz competition, calf and goat scramble.
