Production and Marketing Organization PMO Conference

The Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) will be staging a Production and Marketing Organization PMO Conference on Thursday, June 25th, 2009, at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium.

This event will bring together approximately seven thousand (7,000) farmers and agricultural stakeholders from across Jamaica for a one day Production and Marketing Organization Conference.  The Conference will provide a significant opportunity to bring farmers together to participate and benefit from a well developed programme of activities that include:

•    New technologies
•    New production methods
•    Marketing opportunities
•    Agricultural credit possibilities

As part of a drive to increase and develop the Agricultural Sector, RADA has established a number of Production and Marketing Organizations (PMOs) across the island. The PMOs focus on:

•    Best Practices in Agriculture
•    Better Agricultural Production Planning
•    Group Marketing – linking production to markets
•    Information Gathering, Analysis and Dissemination
•    Rural Development and Improving Standards of Living

The PMO Conference will have three components – an Official Opening Ceremony, which will seek to position the PMOs at the national level with The Prime Minister, The Honourable Bruce Golding, delivering the keynote address and The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries,  Dr. The Honourable Christopher Tufton, outlining the Ministry’s strategic direction; an Exhibition showcasing over one hundred exhibitors; as well as Seminars/Workshops.
